MacK1 Locating Services was established with a simple objective: to provide better information about the infrastructure beneath our feet.
Underground services are critical to almost every construction, infrastructure and development project, yet the information available about them is often incomplete, outdated or difficult to verify.
We believe that should change.
MacK1 Locating combines Electromagnetic Locating, Ground Penetrating Radar, Vacuum Excavation, High-Accuracy Survey and structured GIS and CAD workflows to investigate, verify and map subsurface infrastructure.
Our work is grounded in technical capability, practical field experience and a clear understanding of the limitations of the technology we use.
Meet the Founder
MacK1 Locating Services was founded from a simple observation: too many important decisions are made about underground infrastructure using information that is outdated, incomplete or incorrect.
Plans can be incomplete. Records can be decades old. Services can be inaccurately positioned and poorly documented. When the information available doesn't reflect what is actually beneath the ground, engineers, contractors and asset owners are left making decisions based on assumptions.
I've seen first-hand how this can affect projects. From unexpected services found during excavation and difficult site conditions through to the challenges of trying to reconcile what the records say with what is actually in the ground.
That experience shaped the way I wanted MacK1 Locating Services to operate.
Locating a service is only part of the job. The real value is understanding what has been established, how it was established, how accurately it has been positioned and what level of confidence can reasonably be placed on the information.
The long-term vision goes beyond individual projects. We are developing a framework for capturing, structuring and managing subsurface information so that the value of a field investigation doesn't end when the project is complete.
Every investigation creates an opportunity to leave behind a better record.
